I think John's one most obvious fault is his need to be "edgy". Dude can't just say "I think black people like my music too", he has to say "my penis is a white supremacist ". To over examine a subject, can be one's biggest downfall...it’s a different story when you do this in your personal life, behind closed doors... but to do it in front of a journalist who's going to write verbatim everything you've just said so the world can read it?....eh.... not the greatest trait.

February 14th Mayer had a concert at the ACC in Toronto, wherein he invited a little friend of his by the name of Isaac. Isaac, unfortunately, is a sick little boy. Isaac suffers from a disease known as Marteaux-Lamy Syndrome (MPS VI), which basically messes up the enzyme levels in his little body. It does not carry a great prognosis. This little boy LOVES John Mayer. On February 14th little Isaac, his brother Gabriel, and his mom and dad went to the Mayer concert, and we're treated to a back stage access meet and greet with Mayer. Isaac and Gabriel made John a valentine's card, and were so excited to give it to him. You can read about all that John has done for this little boy on Issac's foundation website. Mom and Dad are convinced John is just a misunderstood guy.

You gotta admit, he's let this little boy behind the scenes three times at his shows, and every time is worth a thousand more to Isaac. A lot of media outlets have said that John is using Isaac as a publicity stunt to take away from his...less than savory Playboy mag interview wherein he labeled his penis a "white supremacist". TMI dude.

Truth of the matter is... he's been in this boy's life for quite some time now. This is not the first time he's treated Isaac’s family to a backstage pass and he's been more than accommodating the last three shows they went to. So it isn't new "charity". It also wasn't a "last minute" visit either. They had actually planned to meet Mayer outside of the concert, but because of the shenanigans John got himself into, it made their previous plans not able to work.

So my verdict on John Mayer is, the guy’s heart is in the right place, but he really doesn't know when to shut up. He has a need to be edgy and intellectual, although more often than not, he ends up making himself look like a douche.
