    Guelph Humane Society Volunteering

    Thursday, June 3, 2010
Lately I have been feeling a little lonesome, missing a little furry four-legged companionship (Yeah, I have two cats but I want one that barks, haha) but it is not the right time for Adam and I to have a dog, nor are we aloud to have dogs in our building (insert frown here).

So I decided that I would volunteer at the local Humane Society here in Guelph.  Adam was worried I would come home with five cats, two dogs and an iguana, but so far, no animals have come home with me.

As much as I love the volunteer experience, it bothers me that their funding is so little.  I feel that the Humane Society deserves more community involvement and support, because they are definitely under funded.

The Guelph Humane Society runs at 166% capacity at any given time throughout the year.  That means that they are severely short staffed and short on space.  God bless them for being so caring and considerate for the animals, but I really think that either the government has to give them more grants and funding, or people need to open their wallets and help out.

They try so hard, and they do such a good job with what they are given, however I think the biggest problem they face at this present time is SPACE!  They have so many cats and dogs they don't know what to do with them.

But you can help!  This June 12th and 13th from 11am to 5pm at Stone Road Mall in Guelph, the Guelph Humane Society is hosting a "Feline Frenzy" Cat Adopt-A-Thon! They are looking for loving homes to come and adopt their cats that are in need of a home. I can vouch that are MANY lovely cats at the Guelph Humane Society right now, that definitely deserve a loving home.  I wish I could take them home as they are just such a joy to spend time with.

If you or someone you know wants to adopt a cat, please come check out the event during the weekend of June 12th and 13th to meet some of the great critters that are up for adoption.

If you aren't from the Guelph area, your local Humane Society also needs help, I assure you.  Please donate your time and money to them as they greatly need your help!

    Woes of dermatology

    Wednesday, May 26, 2010
So here I sit in my dermatologists office, waiting for my appointment, starving, sweating, and quite ticked off, only to find out that there are 12 people ahead of me, and one lady has been waiting an hour and a half for her appointment.

The secretary told said lady that it is always like this and that the long wait Is expected in Guelph because there are only three dermatologists in the area.

    1. I didn't know, nor do I care that there is only three dermatologists in Guelph as that should not hinder the level of professional service you receive.

    2. I would have driven to Kitchener, or Toronto if I had known I would have to allocate my whole afternoon to getting a bloody pathology report to tell me I don't have cancer.

I will leave in a half an hour if I don't get in, and will NOT pay the fee for cancellation, as I will not accept customer service, especially medical-wise, like this without being forewarned.

Plus, if I have cancer, they'll have to tell me as keeping that shit away from me is balls.

Note to Guelph public, if you have to use the service of a dematologist, don't be afraid to venture outside of Guelph as your wait for treatment takes way to effing long.

    Job, say what?

    Thursday, March 25, 2010
So I've been on the hunt for a job, *cough* well ok. I lie. I haven't. Seriously. I've checked workopolis and jobbank every day twice a day, but I haven't once sumitted a resume, as there hasn't been any relevant jobs in my profession....but some how... I have three interviews lined up (well two, because I went to my second today). Yeah, I'm just that good. lol.

Actually it seems that one company found me on workopolis (they are a admin temp agency) and have a 13 month contract available, that they are interested in me applying for, so I did. Wait, I guess I did apply then right? or does that count? She called me and asked if  I was interested, I said yes, and she said "Ok! I will put your name in to apply!" and boom. done.

Secondly, back in January when I was still working with Lynn I was looking for jobs on the d.l, and randomly decided to apply to Miller Thompson just for shits and giggles.  There were no job openings, but figured they keep my resume for three months, s'all good home fry.  Turns out the day before I left the last job (you know the one that fired my ass because I just didnt know how to bend the truth, change my morals or stck my thumb up my ass and rotate every time they asked me to), they wanted me to come in for an interview the following monday. BOO YA BITCHUZ.  So, I went to the second interview today for MT, so they must of liked me fro mthe first one, through a migraine, a stuffy nose, and my body aching like a mo-fo. (still really sick here kiddies).  Did I also mention that I take a medication for my migraines that makes my muscles seize up? yeah. lol. Try driving 45 minutes when it hurts to blink.  I'm a machine. I've decided.   I liked the little lawyer that interviewed me.  He was short, and totally cool. I could work for him, I decided.  His ego wasn't as large as the room we were in, although he deserves to have one like that, Miller Tompson is the BOMB DIGGITY. They have meeting rooms NAMED AFTER ALL THE MAJOR CITIES IN CANADA. swear, I felt like I forgot my armani coat in my ghetto vehicle, lol. Except I have a nice car, so I fit in  that aspect, ok enough babbling.

Thirdly, I get a call from Fusion Homes today who is looking for an exect assistant to their VP'z, and I totally applied there, like two months ago I'm sure, because I don't even have on record WHEN I applied to that shit, but I remember doing it... but whatever, they contacted me, and now I go for an interview on Tuesday.

I find that although the job boards are not reflecting positions in my field, I feel that I am quite in demand.  It also helps that I really don't give two flying shits if I get a job? heh.

Although I might admit that I would like to get the fusion homes job as I am totally looking at tons of jobs in the KW area, and not in Guelph, which is where the FH one is.  I love Guelph, and I totally hate driving long distances (all the jobs I've applied for and stuff are in KW and thats a good 35min drive on the 401ish 7/8ish highways after dropping Adam off, even longer if I have to take only hwy 7 victoria to KW. Fucking traffic is a NIGHTMARE dood.) But anywho, Adam and I like Guelph, as it's grown on us.

Although I will admit that I would drive from Breslau to Guelph up hwy 7 if I could have one of those sweet homes there.  WHICH reminds me, they called me today to tell me that the new homes we were listed for are up and ready to be released but they have released them to everyone on their waiting list first because they want to see if they can sell them without releasing them at all! Although we were approved for a mtg a month ago, something tells me we aren't anymore. lol.  You know, me not having a job and all.  Not that I care? but.. mah.  I wanna take it sloooow this time.  focus on me and my sanity.

Speaking of retards, my neighbour has gone MIA with her new boyfriend which is not cool cause she never visits anymore. Bitch. visit me.

    Now.

Yeah, get up and visit me.

or else I knock on de wall all night. You wait.

    Chow crackers.

    Construction, Need I say more?

    Saturday, October 24, 2009
So as of November 1st, Adam and I will have lived in Guelph for a full year. I like Guelph. It's a relatively quite community, it's got a lot of land surrounding it for growth, and it's pretty much urban sprawl as we know it today.

For anyone who knows my story, Adam and I lived in Kitchener for two years previous to Guelph, and it was my home away from home. I LOVED Kitchener. The best thing about Kitchener was that there didn't seem to be a whole lot of construction on the go. Of course I say that of the areas I frequented, and yes, I am aware of Ira Needles, Huron Road construction, as well as downtown revitalization project, and some around the Conestoga College area, but whatever, I didn't have to drive through it, so I was content.

Then we moved to Guelph, land of Italians and construction!

I swear, the whole summer the street before mine ( I live on a cul de sac) was being ripped a new a-hole, and then when they were half done that, they skipped to MY street and dug up all those little man holes and gas line things, and the sewer grates on the sides of the roads, and now its like I'm swerving around landmines when I try to leave my drive way! EEE-GADS! and they start something, but it takes them YEARS to finish it, its like, come on. Don't start something and not finish it. Half ass does NOT count people!

And then, not to mention that I work in the downtown core area of Guelph on a little residential street side street, and what does the City of Guelph do to Kala's early morning drive to work? They rip IT a new a-hole! I swear, sometimes driving on the main streets of downtown its like driving in mid-mountain wilderness. OPPS there was a pot hole the size of a grand am!

Not only does this construction bother me at home, it follows me to work! In the summer I use to find solace at work (I know, what the hell?) during migraine spells because I couldn't even stay at home in complete silence because of the bastard construction taking place the next street up! I am also on the fourth floor of my building, and well, sound travels ok. My buildings old, my windows rattle with the slightest movement, and well. It was not my haven for migraines I can tell you that much.

Also, instead of taking five minutes to go to Tims in the morning, it now takes me FIFTEEN MINUTES to maneuver construction, OR worst case scenario- navigate the downtown road ways of Guelph! CAN SOMEONE SAY HORRENDOUS? uggggh.

Other than the absolute ridiculous amounts of construction in this little city, I do love it quite a bit. I will probably call this my home away from home soon, as I no longer long for the Kitchener streets and shops. Not like its a long drive, 30 minutes on a good day to get to Kitchener, except any day that ends in Y, since Kitchener has traffic coming out of its ying yang. How appropriate.

Whatever, Guelph rocks, since its the only town that has pissoirs in this area. Thats because were drunk and we rock.   Don't know what a pissoir is? heh heh. Look it up.
