Just thinking of my doggie today

Adam and I have been mulling over the option of whether or not we want to get a dog since we have bought a house with enough room for one...
All I want is Lucas back, but I know this is not Pet Cemetery. I was always told that he was a mix of a boarder collie-terrier, although I don't think he looks the SLIGHTEST like a terrier. Anyone have an opinion?
He was lazy and so so good. Never barked, ate like a beast, snored and was very very well mannered. He could hold his pee for 9 hours, just because our deck was covered in snow, or rain. Yeah, many nights at 11 or 12 at night I could hear my dad shovelling off the deck so the dog could go pee. He died of cancer July 2009.
Whenever he panted, it looked like he was smiling, it was very comforting. I use to dress him up in my clothes and take him for rides in my "playskool baby carriage"....the last time I did that, I'd say he was a good 30lbs, lol. More like a hairy toddler carriage. At normal weight, he was about 50lbs. A real chub-bucket. He would sit next to you and lean on you, because he was too lazy to sit up straight. My kind of dog. lol.
I got him when I was 7. I lived on a farm in the middle of no where, he was my only companion most days. He really was my best friend. People say that, but they don't mean it, "mans best friend". He really was mine.
I want another Lucas. I want a happy smiling, tame buddy. Life is awfully cold without him around.
Take a look at the pics and give me your opinion on what kind of mix he is.

Please note the grey around his face is from being an old man.
sometimes he couldn't get up, and would roll around to gain momentum to swim himself onto his stomach. This is a mid-swing picture. Hence the stink eye he's giving.
Hes squinty, but smiling here.
