My New Tattoo
Saturday, August 7, 2010
Hey all,
So I’m pretty stoked to tell you that I finally got a tattoo! No, I wasn’t drunk or high on something, I actually did it out of my own recognizance! Basically Terri had her friend Bill visiting this week and he is a tattoo artist from Hamilton, and his work is pretty good. He did my tattoo of a hibiscus flower on my left shoulder and it hurt like a bitch!
Anyone that tells you a tattoo doesn’t hurt? Has iron balls.
I also might be a little biased, as I think perhaps my tattoo might be a little more painful than most people, only because I apparently have “leather-like” skin, therefore when I get poked repeatedly with a tattooing needle, I bleed like no bodies business... yeah.
It also meant that I scabbed like a mofo. That was the gross part. But overall, the experience wasn’t all that bad. The healing hurt a lot, I felt like I had gotten a tetanus shot again in my arm, meaning I couldn’t lift things, or move my upper body much, but other than that, the whole process was an ok experience.
I don’t know if “they” are right about this, as they say that once you get one, you want more and more, but I think I might be ok for the time being, that much pain can’t be good for the body. And it only took one hour!

Here is a picture of the outline of the tattoo, no screaming Kala just yet. |
Honestly, as of today in my whole lifetime, having this tattoo is THE most painful thing I’ve ever done. EVER. It even surpasses the level 5 migraines, hangovers and toothaches, no lie.
One thing, that I know “They” out there in the tattoo world weren’t lying about, is the fact that, yes, the outline does hurt the most! I basically turned into a dirty sailor (one such hat I usually only wear when I drink heavily, har har) and you couldn’t wash the expletives out of my mouth fast enough. I basically hung onto the back of the chair for dear life. By the time I unfurled my fingers from the back of the chair, I had turned my fingers into little wrinkly raisins that were white knuckled.
I also might be a little biased, as I think perhaps my tattoo might be a little more painful than most people, only because I apparently have “leather-like” skin, therefore when I get poked repeatedly with a tattooing needle, I bleed like no bodies business... yeah.
Outline all done! Kala looking woozy! lol |
